| What You'll need to participate in a drum circle |
1. A Drum or a Rhythm instrument - (any type drum is fine) a Djembe is one of the most versatile drums for a drum circle. A Rhythm instrument (a shaker, claves, maracas, wood block or cow bell. 2. A Place and Time to meet 3. The facilitator will set the rhythm or choose a master drummer from the circle to begin a beat. 4. The focus of the circle is recreational drumming -designed to have fun with rhythms and is all inclusive for all ages and levels of ability. There is no skill level required Points Everyone is a part of the rhythmic experience - there is no audience The beats are improvised in the moment, spontaneous - so there is no rehearsal The drum circle is a safe, self expressive environment - there is no right or wrong Where do Drum Circles take place: Music Stores Schools Community Centers / Activity Centers Nursing homes Rehab Centers Corporations (team building exercises) Churches Parks |
